About the Role
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Garage Door Installer / Service Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of residential and commercial garage door systems. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical ability, solid construction experience, excels at troubleshooting, and is comfortable working at heights in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, service, and repair garage doors, openers, springs, cables, tracks, and related systems
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and operational issues efficiently
Perform high-quality installations and repairs that meet or exceed industry standards
Safely work on ladders, lifts, and at elevated heights
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
Train and mentor entry-level technicians as needed
Maintain accurate job records, service reports, and inventory usage
Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies
Provide professional and courteous customer service, including explaining repairs and recommendations
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in garage door installation and service (or closely related field)
Strong construction background and mechanical aptitude
Proven problem-solving and diagnostic skills
Ability to work safely and confidently at heights
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and service equipment
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to lift 75+ lbs and perform physically demanding work
Preferred Skills:
Experience with a variety of garage door brands and systems
Basic electrical knowledge related to openers and control systems
Welding or fabrication experience (a plus)
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Work Environment:
This position requires working in both residential and commercial settings, indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions. The role involves frequent climbing, lifting, and physical labor. Safety awareness and adherence to proper procedures are essential.
